Nuevas Herencias
Chapultepec, Mexico City, October 7-12, 2025 - Of Threads introduces inaugural international Mexican-American exhibition: ‘Hecho En Recuerdo’ (Made in Memory) for Mexico Design Week 2025 hosted at G.56 Hub Creativo.
The exhibition follows two prior OF THREADS group shows: El Listón Café (SF Art Week 2025), which explored longing and belonging — the ache of distance and the desire to feel held; and Hecho en Recuerdo (Design Week Mexico 2025), which traced lineage and memory through inherited stories, revealing how culture lives in the body even when place is gone. As the third chapter, Nuevas Herencias marks a shift — from belonging and inheritance to authorship; from what was received to what is being consciously shaped and passed forward.

Featuring 10 Mexican-American artists, the exhibition explores “home” as something carried within — expressed through new rituals, evolving materials, and lived dualities. As curator Alma Jiménez López notes, “As Mexican-Americans, we are no longer just carrying inheritance — we are authoring it. The objects, materials, and symbols in this exhibition are not relics; they are heirlooms in motion. They reflect a generation that has grown up inside contradiction and learned how to make something whole from it.”
