Transforming brand narratives through cultural storytelling, immersive design, and authentic community connections.
Founder & Creative Director
Alma Jimenez Lopez is the founder and creative director of her multidisciplinary studio, where she serves as a fine artist and collaborates with brands to foster authentic community connections. Her expertise encompasses social marketing, comprehensive campaigns, physical activations, and strategic consulting, assisting companies in successfully entering and expanding within U.S. and global markets. Alma's approach ensures that brands engage with communities in meaningful, culturally resonant ways that transcend traditional marketing.
Experience & Expertise
With over 16 years of experience in interior architecture, furniture design, and community activations, Alma brings a unique perspective to the intersection of spatial design, brand strategy, and cultural storytelling.
Former Head of Creative at CANOA
At CANOA, Alma helped transform how furniture dealers, manufacturers, and designers collaborate through a technology platform that made spatial design more accessible, collaborative, and data-driven. She bridged the gap between traditional dealership models and the future of sustainable design, creating systems that streamlined product specification, improved supply chain transparency, and revolutionized the client experience.
Co-Founder of ADITIONS
Prior to CANOA, Alma co-founded ADITIONS, an experiential design studio specializing in custom FF&E solutions, immersive activations, and community-driven storytelling. In 2022, CANOA acquired ADITIONS, bringing Alma and her six-person team on board to build CANOA's creative, community, and marketing initiatives. This acquisition allowed her to apply her design expertise to reimagine the dealer-manufacturer-designer relationship, creating more efficient, sustainable, and client-centered approaches to the commercial furniture specification and procurement process.
Multidisciplinary Practice
Currently, Alma leads her multidisciplinary practice dedicated to helping companies foster authentic connections with communities. Her expertise spans marketing, physical activations, and go-to-market strategy across the U.S. and globally, creating culturally rooted engagements that ensure genuine community connections.
Of Threads Collective
Alma is also the co-founder of Of Threads Collective, uplifting Mexican-American designers through exhibitions like El Listón Café, which debuted at the 2025 Fog Design+Art Fair—an immersive installation exploring cultural identity through design and narrative-driven spatial experiences.
Practice
Through her studio, Alma creates evocative works in ceramics, textiles, and furniture, collaborating with artists, brands, and institutions to amplify underrepresented voices in design. Her projects across NYC Design Week, SF Design Week, SF Art Week, Milan Design Week, and installations like Temporarily Available, NZ Pavilion, and Nodi Rugs Unplugged reflect her commitment to celebrating community, fostering cross-cultural connections, and pushing the boundaries of design as a tool for storytelling and empowerment.
